At Yash Charitable Trust (YCT), we believe that volunteering is a powerful way to make a difference in the lives of others while also enriching your own. Our volunteers play a crucial role in helping us achieve our mission of creating an inclusive society for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

When you volunteer with us, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by contributing your time, skills, and passion to various programs and initiatives. Whether you’re assisting with skill development sessions, organizing events, providing administrative support, or lending a helping hand in any other capacity, your contribution will be greatly valued and appreciated.

As a volunteer with YCT, you will not only gain satisfaction from knowing that you’re making a positive difference in the community but also have the chance to develop new skills, build meaningful relationships, and expand your knowledge and understanding of diverse perspectives.

OUR VOLUNTEERS

YCT cannot function without its band of dedicated volunteers.
They loyally support us through all our trials and tribulations, celebrating our successes and helping resolve challenges.
They give of themselves unconditionally to further our vision and mission.

They share, in their own words, what being associated with YCT means to them:

I never thought that I would get an opportunity like this: to be surrounded by such an amazing and wonderful family of team members, support staff, and trustees. They are so passionate about their goals. I am glad I decided to join the Arpan family (Yash Charitable Trust) and it is my pleasure to be part of an amazing family which is my second home. I thank all trustees for giving me a chance and having so much faith in me.

After joining the family I have become more calm, composed and passionate. I love all my team members (my children) who are also my teachers. I wish the Arpan family (Yash Charitable Trust) the best of success and good luck!

My life was going downhill in about 2017. That’s when I was introduced to Sushama and Yash Charitable Trust.
Soon I began volunteering and my attitude to life changed.

There was a lot to learn from these special adults while teaching them a few skills. Learning to be patient and simplifying the teaching methods were the challenges for me initially. But as time passed by I learnt from them and they learnt something new from me. It is enjoyable and satisfying being with these innocent lives.

I have received lots of love and respect from the YCT family.

Mangala Rajwade

I have been associated with YCT since 2018. Little did I know that my incidental “training team members for the upcoming Café Arpan” would turn me into a regular volunteer at YCT!

This journey has perhaps taught me more than what I have given the special adults. I realised while taking literacy sessions how difficult it was to make them think, make meaningful conversations, express themselves or be imaginative. How easily we take things for granted. These special adults unknowingly remind me of how much we have and don’t value. When I miss taking a class, they are eager to know when the next class is or if I have cancelled because I am unwell. So loving, so caring! Need I say more?

Thank you YCT for giving me this opportunity to volunteer.

I was looking to get involved with social work and give back to society. I mentioned it to a friend, who very kindly told me about Café Arpan and said they were looking for volunteers. She gave me a gist of the background of the café and asked me to get in touch with Sia, and from there onwards I have been committed to Café Arpan and also volunteer at Accenture, Vikhroli where they run a café as well.

I love working with these special adults as it gives me great satisfaction and helps me to become more patient, resilient, compassionate, and understanding. I have to also mention here that I am impressed with the whole support system of Yash Charitable Trust.
